Beauty and order in our environment are not frills they are a urgent necessities for mental health, wellbeing and civility in trying times. They also promote social inclusion, sociability and social-economic vitality. So why are public officials leading us downward into the depths of social/economic depression? Sadly some officials sees cleaning up abuse and misuse of public and private property as a “Nonessential Function”! Yes that’s right! Accordingly they have redirected staffing to ‘keeping streets and public space clean and sanitized’?! Plus continuing their dysfunctional practices of permitting a relativity few vandals, misusers, vagrants and druggies to damage, control and degraded public space. These antisocial few remain exempt from laws meant to apply to all. Beauty and order in our environment are not frills - they are a urgent necessities for mental health, wellbeing and civility. When ‘our’ public officials and others, ignore community codes established by elected representatives – there is no law, there is no order, there is no justice, and any professed civil authority is hypocritical, corrupted and worthless to the public it is paid to serve.
